Annie Crombie and Dan Meehan are stoked with their results and the performance of their Carbon Art slalom boards at the 2017 NZ Boardstore NZ Slalom Nationals held in Dunedin, over February 2nd-7th. Annie took out the Women’s title in resounding fashion, while Dan achieved 4th overall in an extremely tight Men’s field, counting only his 1st and 2nd places from his scorecard.
“Thanks so much for building the best slalom boards ever! My goal was a top five finish and I smashed this, in a field where anybody in the top ten had a chance of winning.
Racing was held in light winds (unusual for Dunedin), which I normally never do very well in. I spent the most time on my SL121 and 7.7m sail, but managed to compete in two races on my SL103 and 7.0m sail; this is a wicked combo and I won both these races – one of which included all the top five sailors. I was able to get such good speed out of both my boards, and because they are so nice to gybe I could focus on tactics and not worry about making mistakes.
Overall I am over the moon with how my boards are going and have been spreading the word on how great they are. Can’t wait for the next race day!”
Annie was equally as enthusiastic about her event and her Carbon Art slalom boards as well:
“Dunedin runs a superb event – it was a great bunch of people and awesome to have a big group of women racing again this year. I loved my Carbon Art boards. It was my first time on the CA66 with my 7.2 and I needed it in the light wind. My favourite kit is the CA62 with a nine-year old 6.2m sail, and still going fast. I’m encouraging Terry to go to Wellington after such a great event – he placed 5th after leading on Day 1 on his CA66.
I’m sorry I can’t make Wellington to do it all again!”
