Using the new Carbon Art Speed 50 and a 6.6m sail, Chris Lockwood dominated the 2006 Sandy Pt Speedweek event, winning 3 out of the 4 rounds with a perfect score of 2.1 in the final ranking, ahead of seasoned speedsters Tony Wynhoven, Peter Dans, and Craig Spottiswood.

In variable conditions from 12 to 25 knots, Lockwood demonstrated the versatility of the 50 by squeezing the most out of the conditions.

Lockwood was the only competitor to pass 40 knots during the event. “It was great to get back to Sandy Pt for another Speedweek event. Unfortunately the wind was not ideal, but it was good enough to get 4 results with 5×10 second average speeds of more than 30 knots. The new Carbon Art Speed 50 saved the day for me with its practical floatation. I could only bring two boards and four sails with me on the plane. On most of the days the wind was too light to plane all of the time, so I saved a lot of energy by not having to swim. It was quite handy to be able to tack the board easily.”
